"It is necessary to know that one is lost in order to want to be saved." —Madeleine DelbrĂȘl from the book, The Holiness of Ordinary People

That We Might Hear - Words to the Wise

The most evident mark of God’s anger, and the most terrible castigation He can inflict on the world, is manifest when he permits His people to fall into the hands of a clergy who are more in name than in deed, priests who practice the cruelty of ravening wolves rather than the charity and affection of devoted shepherds. They abandon the things of God to devote themselves to the things of the world, and instead of their saintly call to holiness, they spend their time in profane and worldly pursuits. When God permits such things it is a very positive proof that he is thoroughly angry with His people, and is visiting His most dreadful wrath upon them.

St. John Eudes

Have you Heard?

The Holy Mass would be of greater profit if people had it offered in their lifetime, rather than have it celebrated for the relief of their souls after death.
Pope Benedict XV

Without It Our Faith Will Die

The Mass is the center and kernel of Catholic worship; without it our faith would die, as it does in those who willfully miss their obligation of attendance at Mass. Those who have so often tried to stamp out the Church have understood this well, for they have always advocated abolishing the Mass. Yet with the Mass we have 'the power of God and the wisdom of God' which nothing can restrain. For the Holy Eucharist is not only a sacrament, it is also a sacrifice, the renewal of the Sacrifice of Mount Calvary, whereby the infinite fruits of that sacrifice are applied to our souls.
