On Spiritual Progress

"Spiritual progress does not consist in the multiplication of extraneous and sublime works, or in the multitude of pious exercises, but in doing well, perfectly and after virtue’s patterns, those works we daily perform…In order that our actions be rightly performed and our actions found perfect before God the following rules should be observed: all things to be done with the upright and simple intention of that being done for God; while engaging in exterior affairs, not to lose the spirit of interior devotion; all things to be performed in the presence and sight of God; apply ourselves diligently to the work at hand; think of the judgment at the end of our life and perform each and every action as if it were to be our last; offer all of our thoughts, words and actions to God, but uniting them with the oblation by which Christ offered Himself and all mankind to God, thus making our oblation one with Christ's; and have the right intention – that of having God as the end of our work and referring all things to His honor and glory."

What Jesus Asks Of You

What I ask of you is nothing other than love and affection for Me and for your neighbor.  This can be done at any time, any place, and in any state of life.

Only A Fool Has Himself As His Spiritual Director

Our Lord, without whom we can do nothing, will never bestow His grace on one who having at his disposal a man capable of instructing and directing him, neglects this powerful means of sanctification, believing himself to be self-sufficient and that, by his own powers, he is capable of seeking and discovering the things necessary for salvation.

The Gift of Fear

[O]ne of the most troublesome things that we have to contend with in life is crippling fear.  God’s response is the gift of the fear of the Lord by which we are overawed by a sense of His greatness and of our longing for Him. This gift makes us fear ever losing One who loves us so much. And it sets us straight: we reject anything that would imperil our relationship with God.
