Who Are We Laity Meant To Be?

The laity are
not, and were never meant to be, the “long arm” of the hierarchy. They are not a part or an extension of an
official Catholic system. They are, or
rather each one is, in his or her own right and on the basis of his or her
piety and competence and doctrine, meant to be the presence of Christ in
secular affairs.
