"To give ourselves to God in prayer is to find a door in our heart unlocking and opening to the hearts of other people." - Father Donald Haggerty

On Spiritual Progress

"Spiritual progress does not consist in the multiplication of extraneous and sublime works, or in the multitude of pious exercises, but in doing well, perfectly and after virtue’s patterns, those works we daily perform…In order that our actions be rightly performed and our actions found perfect before God the following rules should be observed: all things to be done with the upright and simple intention of that being done for God; while engaging in exterior affairs, not to lose the spirit of interior devotion; all things to be performed in the presence and sight of God; apply ourselves diligently to the work at hand; think of the judgment at the end of our life and perform each and every action as if it were to be our last; offer all of our thoughts, words and actions to God, but uniting them with the oblation by which Christ offered Himself and all mankind to God, thus making our oblation one with Christ's; and have the right intention – that of having God as the end of our work and referring all things to His honor and glory."
