The Means By Which Man Is To Save His Soul

(Image Source: Wikimedia Commons ) Man was created to praise, reverence and serve God our Lord, and by this means to save his soul.   Father Winfrid Herbst, S.D.S.

Remember The Forgotten Souls in Purgatory

(Image Source: Wikimedia Commons) The suffering souls in purgatory are powerless to help themselves, and therefore we should from charity help them. For we would be considered exceedingly hard-hearted who, if he could, would not assist his own brother were he in a city prison; and therefore a great deal more hard-hearted are we if we do not help our friends in purgatory; especially since no earthly punishment can be compared to theirs in any way.  St. Thomas Aquinas, O.P.

Our Relentless Lover

The two greatest dramas of life are the soul in pursuit of God and God in pursuit of the soul…[T]he soul that pursues God can do it leisurely…But when God pursues the soul, He proves a Relentless Lover, Who will never leave the soul alone until He has won it or been conclusively denied.  Venerable Fulton J. Sheen

Where Would I Be?

(Photo©Michael Seagriff) "The rebel angels sinned but just once and never got a second chance, but were cast immediately into everlasting hell…I have sinned many times, 'O God, be merciful to me the sinner'…I will think of a soul in hell because of one mortal sin and ask myself where would I be if it were not for God’s mercy?" Father Winfrid Herbst, S.D.S.

Let Us Not Waste Our Time!

(Image source: Wikimedia Commons ) We have only short moments of this life to work for God's glory. The devil knows this and that is why he tries to make us waste time in useless things. O, let us not waste our time! Let us save souls!  Souls are falling into hell innumerable as the flakes of snow on a winter day. Jesus weeps! Instead of consoling Him we are brooding over our own sorrows…There is only one thing to do during the brief day, or rather, night of this life:Love Jesus with all the strength of your heart and save souls for Him, so that He may be loved!    St. Therese of Lisieux
