Those Who Become Discouraged

(Image Source: Wikimedia Commons ) The ones who become discouraged are not those who undergo difficulties and feel pain.   It is those, rather, who do not aspire to sanctity and eternal life, those who despair of ever reaching them, who buckle and give up.   The attitude of the former is shaped by a lack of faith, by comfort-seeking, lukewarmness and an excessive attachment to earthly goods, which they consider to be the only good things worth having. Discouragement, if it is not remedied, paralyzes any effort to do good and overcome difficulties.  (Father Francis Fernandez from In Conversation With God(1:21.1 )

Why Dear Lord, Why?

[The Eucharist must be the source and center of every human life and most especially in the lives of our priests and religious. Why, dear Lord, do so many of us remain obstinately opposed to this Truth? Why don't more of us treasure this great Gift?  Why have so many turned deaf ears to the prophets whom You have sent to us? Why are so few willing to quench Your thirst to be loved? Why, dear Lord, why?] "The moral rot of the priesthood starts with a want of lively faith in the Divine Presence, and the sanctity of the priesthood starts there too." Venerable Fulton J. Sheen

Let Us Never Forget...

(Image source: Wikimedia Commons ) It costs to be a saint.   But woe to that man or woman who won't pay the price!   Let us never again forget, that only saints get into heaven!   If we really intend to get to heaven, it is high time for us to resolve to be a saint.  Rev. M. Raymond, O.C.S.O.
