Our Forgotten Duties

What is our Catholic responsibility? It is painfully obvious. Our duty is to know the truth revealed by Christ and taught by His Church. Our duty is to live the truth, as Christ who is Truth Incarnate showed us by His life on earth how we are to live in this passing world of space and time. Our duty is to defend the truth, because we realize how disastrous are the consequences of error and how blessed are the fruits of possessing the truth. Our duty is to share the truth with others, because this is the highest practice of charity, on which our salvation depends. Our duty is to suffer for the truth. We are to rejoice as Christ tells us when people oppose us, criticize us, and speak all kinds of calumny against us – in a word – when we are persecuted for proclaiming the truth which God, who is Truth, became man to reveal. Our Lord, Truth Incarnate, was crucified for proclaiming in Palestine.  Father John A. Hardon, S. J.

Evil and Truth

(Image Source: Wikimedia Commons )     Most of the evils which beset the Church and most of the problems with which the Catholic Church is plagued, are not due to bad will. No, they are mainly due to ignorance of Christ’s revealed truth. St. Pius X (Pope)

When Hell Is Never Discussed, Countless Souls Are Lost

(Image Source: Wikimedia Commons )     I am sure many lost souls in hell right now would cry out to preachers and writers if they could: Oh, why did you not tell us more about the horrors of hell? Why did you not strike such fear into our hearts by your realistic description of hell that we would have made greater efforts to avoid it?...Why did you spare our feelings in a matter of such eternal moment? Oh, why did you not make hell a thousand times hotter than you did, then perhaps we would not be here today?  Father Winfrid Herbst, S.D.S.    [This is just one of 1200 thought-provoking and faith-building quotations you will find in Forgotten Truths To Set Faith Afire! - Words to Challenge, Inspire and Instruct ]
