The Unending Invisible Struggle

(Image source: Wikimedia Commons ) “Spiritual combat” is another element of life which needs to be taught anew and proposed once more to all Christians today. It is a secret and interior art, an invisible struggle in which (we) engage every day against the temptations, the evil suggestions that the demon tries to plant in (our) hearts. Saint John Paul II (Pope)

Know Your Enemy

The Spiritual Reality of Death

Image source: Wikimedia Commons ) We should all realize that no matter where or how a man dies, if he is in the state of mortal sin and does not repent, when he could have done so and did not, the Devil tears his soul from his body with such anguish and distress that only a person who has experienced it can appreciate it.  St. Francis of Assisi

These Things Are Not First - But We Forget

[When Satan tempted Jesus in the desert] our Lord was not denying that man must be fed, or that social justice must be preached, but He was asserting that these things are not first.  (Image source: Wikimedia Commons ) He was, in effect, saying to Satan, 'You tempt me to a religion which would relieve want; you want Me to be a baker instead of a Savior; to be a social reformer, instead of a Redeemer. You are tempting Me away from My Cross, suggesting that I be a cheap leader of people, feeding their bellies instead of their souls... Be gone Satan! I am not just a social worker who has never been hungry Himself, but one who says I reject any plan which promises to make men richer, without making them holier.’ Venerable Fulton J. Sheen

Remember!

(Image source: Wikimedia Commons ) We have no right to rest as long as a single soul is Satan's slave.  St. Maximilian Kolbe

Don't Get Too Close!

(Image source: Wikimedia Commons ) The devil is a great chained dog, which puts people to flight, which makes a great noise, but which only bites those who come too close.  ( St. John Marie Vianney)

Let Us Not Waste Our Time!

(Image source: Wikimedia Commons ) We have only short moments of this life to work for God's glory. The devil knows this and that is why he tries to make us waste time in useless things. O, let us not waste our time! Let us save souls!  Souls are falling into hell innumerable as the flakes of snow on a winter day. Jesus weeps! Instead of consoling Him we are brooding over our own sorrows…There is only one thing to do during the brief day, or rather, night of this life:Love Jesus with all the strength of your heart and save souls for Him, so that He may be loved!    St. Therese of Lisieux

Satan Will Never Succeed

My son, if we do what we have always done, what our fathers did before us, we cannot go wrong. Satan wants to destroy this prayer, but in this he will never succeed. The Rosary is the prayer of those who triumph over everything and everyone. It was Our Lady who taught us this prayer, just as it was Jesus who taught us the Our Father.  (St. Pio of Pietrelcina)

Beware Of Incoming Missiles

(Image Source: Wikimedia Commons ) The devil is real.   We fail to recognize the reality of his existence and power and therefore we often fall prey to his many tricks.   Satan’s goal is to lead us away from God and to separate us from Him for all eternity…Satan wants us to despair, to give up, to separate us from God and lead us to hopelessness.   We cannot fight this spiritual battle on our own.   We fail because we rely on our own resources.   We fail to grasp that a missile is coming in from the enemy.   We try on our own to defeat Satan.   We cannot succeed on our own. (Father George P. Schommer, O.P.)
